Homecoming in Burrillville: Two Veterans Begin a New Chapter

After years of service to their country, Scott and David — Two local veterans — are starting a new chapter of stability and independence in a home they helped build alongside Habitat for Humanity of West Bay & Northern Rhode Island. The two now share a newly constructed duplex in Burrillville, Rhode Island marking not only a milestone for them personally, but also for the community that rallied to make this project possible.

Designed with the future in mind, the duplex is fully ADA-compliant, including a wheelchair-accessible ramp and other thoughtful features that ensure comfort and mobility for years to come. This home reflects Habitat’s commitment to accessibility and dignity, allowing homeowners like Scott and David to age safely in place.

Standing side by side, the two veterans shared their gratitude for the volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors who worked countless hours to bring this dream to life. Their journey — from serving the nation to building a home through partnership and perseverance — embodies the true spirit of Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern, Rhode Island: Community, Resilience, and Hope.

As Scott put it, “This home gives us the stability we’ve worked so hard for — and the peace of mind that we can take care of each other.”

Together, Scott and David’s home isn’t just a place to live; it’s a symbol of Service honored, a community united, and futures rebuilt.
