HABITAT for HUMANITY of WEST BAY and NORTHERN RI IS A VOLUNTEER-DRIVEN ORGANIZATION. WE WANT YOUR HELP!

We are constantly in need of volunteers to keep many aspects of our affiliate running smoothly.  However, please be aware that we are currently not building and not in need of construction volunteers on a job site. We are hopeful of acquiring land soon and resuming our construction schedule; when that happens, we will post information on this website, and on the construction calendar. You are welcome to complete a volunteer form and help us with other aspects of our organization until the time that construction resumes .

Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern RI, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience for themselves the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.

Habitat volunteers contribute more than muscle. Creativity, strategy, and technical skills are among the many invaluable traits volunteers bring to the organization. Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern RI, Inc. is an entirely volunteer organization. With no paid staff, we depend upon volunteers  and committees. We need help with communications, publicity,  website administration, newsletters, fundraising, event planning, volunteer coordinating, volunteer recruiting, development, family partnering and famiy selection, as well as with the construction of homes. West Bay and Northern Rhode Island Habitat would not be a reality if it were not for the many volunteers working together toward our common goal of eliminating poverty housing in the communities we serve.

We invite volunteers to help us build, serve on committees, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some volunteers dedicate many days of the week to Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern RI, Inc. and others spend just a few hours each month working on projects. As a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of West Bay and Northern RI, Inc., you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All of these positions are a tremendous help that directly or indirectly result in the construction of simple, decent homes. Please contact us and share with us the ways in which you would like to help. We need you!

A good way to learn more about us is to attend a Board Meeting or visit the construction site. Please check the Calendars to see what's scheduled.

To volunteer, proceed to the Online Registration and Online Orientation. Since we do not hold Volunteer Orientation meetings, we ask that you complete the orientation online. This will give you some basic information about us and about volunteering.

Yes, please register online. Online registration is important since we do not hold volunteer orientation meetings.

We prefer to have volunteers stay all day, but it's not required.  If you are unable to stay all day, let your site lead know as soon as you check in. If you have special circumstances you may contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

We prefer that you arrive by 8:30 if at all possible.  When we start in the morning your construction lead will conduct a safety talk and hand out job assignments.

*Do I have to have previous construction experience?
No.  There are skilled individuals on site who will lead you in construction tasks.

*Do you have ways that I can volunteer besides helping at the construction site?
Yes, we have a tremendous need for volunteers, since we are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. Everything that we do to keep the organization going and building homes generates from time and effort contributed by people like you, who want to help. We need help with fundraising, event planning, volunteer management, newsletters, communications, publicity, site selection, family selection and family partnering, website administration, church relations, procuring food donations for the construction site, and much, much more.
